The beauty of the New Mexico has long been known to inspire great artists. Artists have been flocking to Taos and Santa Fe since the 1890s. Perhaps one of the best known Western artists, Georgia O’Keefe, moved to Santa Fe in 1929 where the stunning vistas and stark landscape  configurations of the area  inspired her

work for more than half a century, until her death in 1986 at the age of 98. Ms. O’Keeffe once said of her home in the West, “When I think of death, I only regret that I will not be able to see this beautiful country anymore ...unless the Indians are right and my spirit will walk here after I am gone.”

The Art Studio at Rancho Hidalgo will provide residents and visiting artists the opportunity to create works in a variety of media, from watercolors to metal sculpture, and everything in between. Many of us hold creative talent, but in our busy day-to-day lives, we rarely take the opportunity to express it. The Art Studio will be a place to discover hidden talents in media we may have longed to explore, but never had the chance to experience. Or, perhaps, it may be a place to rediscover a talent once alive in our youth, but long lain dormant in our
adult lives. It will be a place to gather and create with old friends and a wonderful way to make new ones.
